Busy With Life

Posted in General by L-Dawg @ May 30, 2006

I can’t wait to be settled. I remember now how nerve-racking (is that how you spell that) the transition from high school to college was, as you decide where you’re going to live, move, and settle. Then I had the transition into my first apartment, and that wasn’t easy either. Finding and securing an apartment takes a lot more work than it should, in my opinion.

So the fact that I have an interview in Portland tomorrow as well as the fact that I don’t know where I’m moving to yet AS WELL AS the fact that I’m still finishing up my major which I don’t enjoy at all seem to all contribute to my feeling of unease. There are other things going on in my life too, of course, which makes it all the more difficult.

I just want to sit on my butt, play games, and post on my blog. Is that so much to ask?

By the way, I really am looking forward to being settled and finally having my own place (and making REAL money). =)

Plan = Foiled

I was running a bit late for my bus to school the other day. Seeing as how they moved the stop almost a half mile away from my house, it takes a bit longer to get there now, too. Just to be safe, I was switching off between a brisk walk and a jog — didn’t wanna miss it.

And I saw the bus go by. Crap. That’s ok, the stop is just a bit passed where I saw it drive by, so I broke into a sprint.

I made it to the bus about 3 seconds after the last passenger had boarded.

“Phew. Thanks!” I said to the bus driver.

“I just have to tell you, you need to be sure you’re on the sidewalk at the bus stop in order to get on the bus next time.”

Wow, thanks. It sucks that he totally ruined my plan of sprinting after the bus every day. Dang.

More wheels, less brainses.

I was eating my sandwich while pushing my longboard up the hill with my foot; I was on the side of the street. It was too hot to skate up a hill, in my opinion. So I was eating my sandwich, olives and cucumbers falling everywhere, when I hear something to the effect of “woah, watch it! On your right!” I’m about four feet from the curb, so this alarms me a bit. I’m not making any sudden moves, and I’m walking at about .8 miles per hour.

And then I see this weirdo on one of those gimpy 3-wheeled bikes. You know, the big goofy thing with a basket on the back? For some reason this guy has decided that he absolutely needed to past me on the right. Mind you, the street was completely and totally empty with the exception of me and this guy and the two walking on the sidewalk nearby. The guy squeezes by me with inches to spare and looks at me with this crazy sense of urgency like “geez buddy, watch where you’re going.”

Well you know what? Watch where YOU’RE going, buddy. I’m pretty sure the guy must have seen me walking hundreds of feet earlier, yet he still decided that he needed to pass me in the four feet between me and the curb. I’ll bet he never learned to ride a two-wheeler. Hah.

It’s been a few weeks

I see that it’s been almost 3 weeks since I posted anything. I’m sorry, and yet at the same time no one seemed to put up much of a fuss about it.

I’ve had these silly papers due in my stupid journalism class the past two weeks that have really been stressing me out. The guy is a tough grader — if you don’t write like he writes, you don’t get full credit. So that’s really good. Oh, also, he never answers my questions.

The other day I raised my hand:

“Yes, Luke?” he said.

“Oh, actually, go ahead and take John’s question first since my question was on a different topic,” I replied.

“Let’s just move on.”

And we did; he just started lecturing again and avoided both of our questions. Blame my lack of updates on him.
