Thermophobia - I Hate the Heat

Today I needed to go to Safeway. It's really just like any other day, Safeway being right across the street and all. But something was different: it was HOT out. I checked the temp and it was 95°F out. You can't even walk across the street without getting the dreaded butt-sweat (not to mention the sweat on all kinds of other areas on your body).

Which reminded me -- I hate the heat. I don't mind the sunshine, don't get me wrong. I love sunshine, but I hate the heat. My ideal temperature is a cool 68°F. It's cool, almost chilly, but as long as you're doing something in it, you're sure to be comfortable. Whether you're wearing shorts or pants, you're sure to find comfort in 68° temperatures. 80°+? That's a big no thanks.

Obviously the big drawback to being hot is that it isn't as easy to cool down (as opposed to putting on more clothes/blankets when you're cold). Sure, there's air conditioning, but we all know that the only air conditioners that exist in residential areas are those found in the parents' house. Is it worth it? You decide. Some people will also argue that swimming is a great way to beat the heat. Again, I fully agree with this except for one problem: swimming gets old and boring. It'll be hot every single day, and I sure don't want to be forced to fill up every day with fun in the water.

I get so uncomfortable when I feel like there's no escaping it. It's annoying, it's icky, and it's downright lame. I hate it. Everything I want to do outside (or heck, even inside) is pretty much eliminated by 90°+ temperature. Who wants to run around and play tennis in that? Definitely not me.

So how do we beat the heat? I've already bought a new and expensive fan, but even that can only do so much. Take cold showers and other forms of water activity? Sometimes.

How do YOU beat the heat? Send me your ideas here.
Also, be sure to mention what phobias YOU have from the phobia list.
